Artist Note

My paintings are about animals, plants, and people that are easy for anyone to understand. However, the various subjects in the painting are not specific objects themselves. Rather, they function as a kind of priming water that draws empathy and stories from the viewer.

As I watched the viewers of my paintings create different intersections every moment, I thought about the importance of materials that anyone can find an intersection of empathy away from understanding and distance from modern art, so I chose them as subjects to be depicted in my paintings.

However, this may seem like a realistic reality, but it is more meaningful in triggering the "concreteity of association" due to the realism of the object.

The quiet confrontation between the subject and the sub-subject causes each subject to exist as a single person.
Cross-talk and tension are created by placing them in a space of unfamiliar point of view, which helps viewers find their own intersection more actively, so that they can function as their own perspective to interpret reality, not as a representation of the real world.

This is because I think the picture of metaphor can reach deeper, as in the sentence "Dreaming of Bordeaux is not only better than getting off at Bordeaux railway station, but also closer to the truth," written by Fernando Pesoa in the Book of Anxiety.

My work consists of a time when I looked at the absurdity and contradiction that modern people's relationship-oriented tendencies encounter at the same time.

I hope that it will be a time for those who see my work to think about themselves or the relationship of others.
